I have a confession to make.

Hi. My name is Dracenea and I'm a fast food-aholic.

{Insert sparse clapping and people saying hello.}

I don't like to cook very often and don't go to the grocery store as much as I should so I tend to go to fast food drive-throughs a bit too often. I've talked before about how McDonald's is the devil due to what they put in their food. My brain knows that fast food is generally not the picture of health but my taste buds are doing the thinking when I pull up to one of these places. My brain kicks in later when I'm on the Web sites looking up the nutrition facts and then my stomach joins in with some angry rumblings about what I just ate.

I'm not a big sweets person but awhile back I had a craving for chocolate and McDonald's had a giant picture of their brownie melts posted by the road so before I knew what happened, I was sitting at home with a brownie melt and coffee. Man it was delicious. It was moist, warm, chocolatey and everything that a brownie should be. Damn you, McDonald's! I shake my fist at thee!

Well, today I was out and about and McDonald's had a sign by the road advertising their brand new Frappe's. What?! I love Frappe's and gosh darn it, I was thirsty! Normally I would pay $4 at Starbucks but hey, there's McDonald's and I know they'll be cheaper so all of a sudden a Mocha Frappe lands in my car with whipped cream and chocolate syrup drizzled all over. Gosh darn it, it's delicious and about a dollar cheaper! I shake my fist at thee again!

Diane - Yes, you and your sweet tea addiction. I have yet to try it but fear that it will be delish just like the other items I have succumbed to. Grr.

Here's Hobby Lobby's Web site:

http://www.hobbylobby.com/

I checked their store locations and I couldn't tell if any are somewhat near you.

They're a Christian based craft store so they do have a lot of that type of stuff but they also have non-religious items too.

I'm back! I've never heard of Hobby Lobby. I'll have to check the link. Thanks. Got a frame-it was only 6.99. :)

Hello Dracenea, I'm Eve & I'm a ___. (You'll see below!)

I completely know what you mean about 'fast food' becoming habit forming & just easier to get. Yet over the years, I've grown to like the typical fast food places {like McD's, BK, & Taco Bell} less & less-exceptions coffee drinks. So that's kinda an improvement, right?

BUT I do eat too much other junk food-ish food (hm, make sense?) like Chinese, Thai, & other take-out places..., so I guess I'm a take-out kinda junkie. (Hello, My name is Eve & ___.) Like yours but a lil' different. :}

Like you, I don't cook as much as I should so I find myself going to these places (but of course sometimes they're cheaper than making a meal, though a homemade meal would prob be a much healthier choice).

And then I say I'm going to buy ___ to save $$$ instead of getting it from places. Like I'd buy the chai tea concentrate & make it everyday instead of buying it/iced coffee (T. Hortons). I do it for like 2 days, then end up wasting it! Today I even had a Starbucks iced Chai tea (& had it at home but theirs is soooo good, but so pricey! Costs more than the concentrate! What am I thinking/doing?).

I think it goes on a for a lot of people though, so don't feel bad. I mean we are the fattest country afterall, woo hoo! How about this, LETS make a pact to not buy any coffee drinks/fast food goodies until...Saturday. Deal or no deal? I'll try if you do! ^_^

Eve - Yep, that's a good deal. I bought a frame at Hobby Lobby today and it was $6 so about the same.

OMG I do the same thing...buying something similar at a grocery store thinking I'll just make it at home instead of going out and then I go out anyways cuz' their version tastes better.

SATURDAY??!! You do realize it's Tuesday, right? Ahhhh! Well crap, then I have to go to the grocery store tomorrow. How about this? I'll try? tee hee

I'm with you on that. McDonalds is the Devil--how in the world can everybody be your target customer. Think about it. They have something for everyone. And everyone every walk of life eats there... The devil.

I should probably not tell you, those new frappas are free on certain days of the week here in ATL. I've made it a point to block which day it is out of my head!

Well, on SATURDAY you can have your treat. :) Yes, I know it's Tuesday so go out NOW & eat/drink/be merry & we'll suffer together. Maybe we'll loose 50 pounds combined! :) People look at my coffee sometimes (cuz I put a lot of cream in it) and ask if it's MILK. It's in a Tim Hortons cup, why would I get milk? Weirdos...

Try try try...oh, & you can have homemade stuff but not Starbucks/McD's bought, got it!

I know we can do it!!! ;}

Renee - You crack me up. And again, I'm ultra jealous of your geographic location! We never get cool stuff like that here. Do you know anyone that wants to live here? I'll sell them my home! :)

Eve - But but but...okay fine. *stomps foot and crosses arms while rolling eyes* I will try very hard not to go out.

Eve Noir said...

You're too funny!

Um...I'm already getting a craving...um, what do I do when that happens? I'm...going...through...coffee...withdrawal...from Tim Hortons. Did I tell you I drink it almost every day? Maybe I shouldn't (we shouldn't) stop cold turkey....

I'm cracking....;}

Eve - Sounds like you got it bad! I don't have any place that I go to almost every day for a fix so this is looking like it will be easier for me. Although, I just got up and haven't even thought about food yet. Hmm. Now I'm thinking about it. What are we going to do?!

maybe it's already been said--but sounds like you need a good exorcism, girl!

Riverwolf - Maybe you're right! It's time to exorcise the demons!
